I'm Mari Kennedy,

I will be your guide.

The Celtic Wheel found its way to me in 2011, when I was in a very challenging and desolate place. For the preceding five years, my life had been in a constant state of flux, uncertainty and loss.

In April that year, my father was dying. I now know that the Celtic Wheel was his passing gift to me. It happened in a mythic moment in the auspicious Hazel Wood forest in Sligo, on the west coast of Ireland.

A month later I met my teacher in this tradition - Dolores Whelan - who has been a Carrier of the Flame of Celtic Consciousness for the past 30 years.

I had taken Celtic Studies as an Archaeology undergraduate at university, but it was years later, through the Celtic Wheel, that I entered a soul apprenticeship to the Celtic tradition.

The Celtic Wheel is the ritual calendar handed down to us from the indigenous Celtic and Pre-Celtic ancestors of this land. They were rooted in the rhythms of nature and the cosmos. The feminine and masculine were both honoured and they deeply understood the interconnectedness of all things.

Reconnecting with the wisdom of the Celtic Wheel profoundly changed how I approached my life. It helped me to make sense of my challenges and losses. It showed me the value and beauty of the ebbs and flows, the fallow and the fertile times.

It taught me to trust the falling apart, the dark and death.

It continues to demand that I own my radiant power as a woman and live unapologetically aligned to my Soul. It showed me the PATH OF EVOLVED SOVEREIGNTY.

It offered me a map of how to reclaim and lead from my inner feminine - through rhythms, cycles and nature and in so doing, find a gentler, wiser and more fierce way to live.

It connected me to the mystical in a very practical way.

This is why I created this body of work. This is why I lead women.

Why is it called Next Stage Celtic Wheel?

My approach to the Celtic Wheel of the year is through the lens of evolution. It's how I make sense of the world.

Next Stage refers to the next stage of evolution.

It’s an evolution of the Celtic Wheel for a time when we are at a wild edge of a new paradigm.

Over the last 14 years of apprenticing to the wheel I have encountered such a rich tapestry of ancient wisdom and amazing people working with the Wheel in many different ways for years.

This wisdom was lost to me and to generations because it was seen by the dominant culture as too magical, too woo woo and at odds with linear rational sophisticated path of progress.

As a coach and meditation embodiment and yoga teacher I have also been steeped in developmental psychology, Jungian study, embodiment, neuroscience, Integral theory, Zen and Taoism with a daily meditation practice and a keen interest in astrology and archaeoastronomy.

And then I still bring the mind of an archaeologist having studied it in University way back ;0)

All these strands have influenced how this Next Stage approach emerged through me.

Next Stage Celtic Wheel is an integration. It's a body of work that is a synthesis of ancient and new.

I encourage everyone who journeys with me to find their own sovereignty in how they choose to approach the Wheel of the Year. Trust what resonates, it’s the best guide.

NSCW honours and includes the many spiritual traditions and cultural layers Ireland has experienced throughout prehistory and history.

It also values and includes the different ways of approaching the Celtic Wheel including Druidry, Wicca, Celtic Christianity, neopaganism.

I believe that to wisely evolve is to retain all the great truths and wisdom of the ancients but to also bring in the new findings and knowledge that keeps the Celtic Wheel alive and relevant to our lives in 2023. This will help us create a new story that will birth a more beautiful world.

My approach and the name Next Stage has been inspired primarily by Ken Wilber's Integral maps, Marion Woodman's work, and my study with Dolores Whelan, Diane Musho Hamilton Roshi, The Bard School, Jeremy Johnson and Katonah yoga's Nevine Michaan.

In this work I am interested in evolving what we mean by the often tricky word sovereignty, evolving how we do ritual, evolving magic, evolving what we mean by community and tribe. Why? So that we learn to become Sovereign wise "tribal individuals"(Gabrielle Roth) birthing a new more beautiful interconnected and wiser world together.

How is Next Stage Celtic Wheel a map for the sacred work of the feminine?

How do I engage? How much time do I need to invest?

That is really up to you. This NSCW journey is not about acquiring more information, but rather living the wheel.

When we embody it, we receive what the great Irish Mystic John Moriarty called Silver Branch Perception - a new, deeper way of perceiving which is fundamentally, radically different to how we were brought up.

But yes, a healthy level of commitment is needed to engage with the material.

The journey offers live calls, recording, written pieces, videos, audios, preparation the rituals, a community app, smaller Anam Cara groups, meditations and practices.

All of the parts are there to suit different learning styles, to allow for diverse commitments we have as women and to honour the extroverts and introverts within the Tribe.

All of it is an INVITATION never an obligation.

You are a Sovereign being - you choose the parts of this journey that will nourish, anchor, inspire and embolden you to live in deeper connection with the wisdom of cycles, nature and your Soul.

This path is not about doing it all or adding this journey to your to do list. Thats the old " good girl of the Patriarchy".

This journey will expose the unhealthy archetypes of the Patriarchy, dismantle old patterns from our lineage and the unconscious colonial conditioning within us. So we can alchemise all of it.

Part of that is showing up to this journey and taking full responsibility for how you show up - not as a " spiritual good girl' but as a fierce powerful modern medicine woman here to birth a new world.

Most women fall off a couple of times during the cycle and that is part of the journey. Resurrecting the feminine is an unfolding, meandering, pathless path of remembrance.

If some guideline would be helpful I suggest that if you join TRIBE, dedicating an hour a week to dive into the material, join the live calls( or recordings) and do the practices.

With the Self-led option, I would suggest you put aside 2 hours in the week before each of the 8 festivals, when you get your festival material.

What do you mean by 'sacred work of the feminine'?

We are in the 5th wave of Feminism and our work is no longer just about demanding power. Its about owning our innate sovereign power and wisdom and taking responsibility for the power we have demanded as a force of nature to birth a wiser world.

I believe the sacred work of the feminine these days has three strands that we weave into our journey in NSCW.

1. Resurrect our buried forbidden feminine nature which was sent underground. It is a potent source of our innate power. It has been repressed, domesticated and dominated for 5,000 years, since the dawn of patriarchy. That system is now in the last throws of collapse. It's collapsing not just around us, but also within all of us. Our feminine nature is the deepest part of us, fiercely intuitive, wildly relational, receptive, compassionate, playful and creative. It takes time to resurrect her from the colonial conditioning. It is the flourishing earth and our rebel body.

As we resurrect the feminine, something beautiful happens. The healthy masculine naturally arises with agency and assertiveness in service to the feminine. In return, the feminine tethers and tempers the masculine.

Our patriarchal colonialist conditioning which privileges masculine qualities of domination, driving, conquering, progress at all costs and perfection seeking get exposed. We see the enslavement of overdoing, over-functioning, always on, striving that keeps us disconnected , disempowered and depleted.

Reunited, they dance in generative harmony. We become more whole, inhabiting the full spectrum of being human, living from our sovereign centre in service to the new world. We lead with the feminine and enact with the masculine.

2. Re-soul oursleves and our world. The sacred work of the feminine reconnects and repairs our broken relationship with the animus mundi, the soul of the world and the vital wild force that animates us. It's a remembrance of our deep reciprocity, interconnection with all humans and our more than human allies.

We show up as generous participants, wild and wise forces of nature thats source our power in our belonging to "a communion of subjects not a collection of objects"(Thomas Berry)

3. Heal the split, the separation and fragmentation that Patriarchy has created.

The feminine includes, connects, unifies. Now it's time to integrate and heal all that was split and separated within and around us.
